Testimonial for CDManaging our own busy Veterinary Practice, and with a tireless 2-year-old, I was finding it very difficult to focus on my rapidly approaching due date. I was increasingly struggling to deal with the stress of work, and couldn't seem to find a way to stop and step back to re-assess my priorities. I contacted Amanda Gwynne, who was very understanding, and sent me her hypnobirthing CD straight away. Her soothing voice, visualisation techniques, and easy to follow steps helped me instantly. I only had a short time to make use of the recording before baby's arrival, but even this was a huge benefit. Whenever I had a spare moment, I would take myself to a quiet spot and have half an hour of peace and relaxation, and be able to focus on the upcoming arrival. I was able to let go of worries and stresses, and instead embrace my role as a mother. I will definately remember this for next time and start the course a lot earlier. Thanks again, Abigail

TESTIMONIAL FOR HYPNOBIRTHING AND CD – MRS MWHaving rather a negative recollection of my stay in hospital at the time of the birth of my first child and an interest in alternative therapies, I decided to undertake the HypnoBirthing course with Amanda, in the hope of enjoying the experience a bit more the second time round. It was great to take time out to practice the techniques with Amanda and the home practice was an excellent way to ensure I took time out at home as well. My husband also attended a session and found it useful in giving him a better understanding of what I was experiencing during our practice sessions when he was guiding me through the relaxation and visualisation techniques. It made him a much more pro-active birthing partner. As a bonus, during my sessions we worked through my negative recollections so that I could leave them behind. When it came to the birth I had a day of the mildest, irregular, contractions, plus breaking of hind waters, very easily managed with the breathing techniques practiced. I believe that my more relaxed attitude and the daily relaxations I had undertaken meant that I got through this early stage of labour without realising anything much was happening. As there didn’t appear to be any progress we undertook the “Release” visualisation before bedtime - I woke 3 hours later with full-on contractions coming thick and fast. I listened to Amanda’s CD in the car on the journey to the hospital, where I was found to be 8cm dilated already. Because of the intensity of the contractions when I woke and the speed at which labour was progressing, it was all go and we had little time to use the visualisations we had practiced so I did use gas and air to help get through the final few pushes - our baby was born in the pool within 3 hours of when I had woken. I was very calm throughout and believe that despite not managing to get myself into a fully hypnotised state, much of what I’d practiced kicked in unconsciously and really made a difference. I recommend this course to any mum-to-be, regardless of whether they envisage using other methods of pain relief during labour. |
TESTIMONIAL FOR HYPNOBIIRTHING Tracey one of my recent ‘hypnobirth’ clients has very kindly sent me her testimonial and is happy to share her experience with you about the effects hypnosis had on her pregnancy and labour. ‘The thought of childbirth has always terrified me, so when I eventually became pregnant it was a dream come true. I was so happy but also scared as I knew I would now have to give birth. When I found out about the courses Amanda offered, I booked up straight away. After the first session I thought ‘wow’ I have never felt so relaxed and from that day on my whole perception about pregnancy and birth changed from negative to positive. My husband enjoyed the sessions too especially after a stressful day at work. I continued to enjoy my pregnancy and as my due date approached I looked forward to the birth and the chance to use my self hypnosis, and other techniques which Amanda had taught us. The due date came and went so I went to see Amanda for reflexology. Within a few hours I was in labour! After my waters broke we went into hospital and I felt so calm and in control, even the midwife commented on how calm I was. I progressed well in labour, eventually using some ‘gas and air’ towards the end. Giving birth, breast feeding and my postnatal recovery was all very normal and easy.
My pregnancy and the birth has been the best experience of my life, and I can’t thank Amanda enough for this. I think every woman should enjoy the same experience that I did viewing the birthing process as a positive one and not one to be feared.’
